It is well recognized that early treatment of patients at risk for developing chronic pain prevents disability.  It is for this reason that Dr. Ennis has developed an assessment package that can help physicians identify patients with pain who are at risk for chronic disablity.  Details of the package can be found in his article, recently published in Parkhurst exchange.  The assessment package and article can be downloaded fromhttp://www.pain-tools.co.ccThis material is for health care practitioners only and the website is password protected.  In order to get the password, you must be a health care provider who will use these tools for their intended purpose.  Please contact our offices at 905-627-7300 and you will be provided with the password.  The password will not be provided through email.

Patients at risk are ideal candidates for the EMPs early intervention program.  This program offers the same core methods of treatment as our multidisciplinary pain management program.  The primary difference is that patients who receive treatment early are more likely to return to work and to return to most of their pre injury/illness activities.  The sooner that these patients can be identified the better it is for them.  .
